"101 Dalmatians" is a live-action film released in 1996, produced by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is an adaptation of Dodie Smith's 1956 novel "The Hundred and One Dalmatians" and the 1961 animated Disney film of the same name.
Directed by Stephen Herek, the film stars Glenn Close as the iconic villain Cruella de Vil, a wealthy and fashion-obsessed woman who wants to use the Dalmatian puppies for their fur to create a lavish coat. Jeff Daniels and Joely Richardson play the roles of the Dalmatians' owners, Roger and Anita.
The film follows the story of Pongo and Perdita, two Dalmatians who must rescue their puppies from Cruella de Vil and her henchmen. With the help of other animals, including a horse and a parrot, Pongo and Perdita embark on a thrilling adventure to save their puppies.
The film was a commercial success, grossing over $320 million worldwide. It was followed by a sequel, "102 Dalmatians" in 2000, also starring Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil.
